Start by blotting the area with a paper towel or clean cloth to absorb the residue. Rinse with cold water and head for the pantry.
There are several household items that are effective at removing stains and eradicating nasty odours.
White vinegar and water at a concentration of one to four can be sprayed directly onto the soiled area and left for five minutes to work its magic.
Alternatively, a paste of baking soda and water can do the trick. Simply apply the paste to the stain and wait for 10 to 15 minutes.
In either case, follow with a quick rinse with cold water and then allow the carpet, rug or upholstery to air dry.
