You may think that the world’s most beautiful carpets are those made from the finest silks, in rich, lustrous colours. Normally we’d agree, but there’s one exception.
Wool carpets provide a soft feel, pleasing look and depth of colour that can’t truly be replicated by synthetic fibres.
Silk carpets and rugs have a natural shimmer and smooth, soft texture that can’t be beaten by other materials. Composed largely of a protein called fibroin, silk is also surprisingly strong.
Cats, particularly unneutered males, tend to mark their territory by spraying urine on carpets, clothing and curtains. This leaves a pungent odour that worsens over time.
